Hi everyone!
Fall is here and the weather seems like a dream. At the moment, I’m in the cornfields of Ohio and Indiana on tour with Bang On a Can and having a great time. Compared to the normal chamber music tour I feel like a rock star – we get catered meals and buses and have a tour manager and sound guy to boot! It’s beautifully organised and the members of the band are superb musicians and great to work with. All joking aside, we do have a couple of real rock stars with us - Glen Kotche from the band Wilco and Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth, and we’re playing a couple of pieces Glen wrote for Bang On a Can.
When I return to New York I’m playing a program on October 1st with clarinetist Carol McGonnell and pianist Molly Morkoski at the Turtle Bay Music School of Beethoven A Major cello sonata, two sets of Schumann pieces with piano (one for clarinet, one for cello) and the Brahms clarinet trio in a minor. It will be a lovely evening, admission is free – it’s at 7PM- and there will be wine!
Shortly thereafter for those of you upstate, I’m playing Schumann concerto on Oct 7th with the University orchestra in Syracuse. James Tapia is superb to have taken on this monster-great piece with the orchestra and we’re going to have a great time.
Then it’s into recitals on the 9th and 10th, Syracuse and then in New York, with more Beethoven, Bach C Major, Nadia Boulanger, and some Carter in the mix!
I hope that some of you will be able to come by, have a listen and say hi.
Hope everyone is well and all the best,
Carrie
